LUCENA CITY—Three more people died from COVID-19 in Quezon, bringing the total death toll in the province to 712, health authorities said.
The new fatalities were from Dolores and Unisan towns and Tayabas City, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) reported.
Forty-seven of the total deaths happened between July 1 to 14, the IPHO said on Wednesday.
In June, the IPHO recorded 140 deaths, higher than the 125 in May and the 114 in April.
The Quezon capital Lucena City, which is under strict modified enhanced community quarantine, has the highest number of fatalities at 133.
However, from the highest tally of 1,125 active COVID-19 cases two months ago (May 15), the number went down to 753 on July 14.
Of 39 towns and two cities in Quezon, only the far-flung San Francisco town remained COVID-19-free as of July 14.
The municipality, located in the remote part of the Bondoc Peninsula district, has had no active virus carrier for the past 22 days.
The San Francisco Rural Health Unit reported that its last virus carrier, a 75-year-old man from Barangay Pagsangahan, recovered on June 23.
San Francisco, a population of 61,473, recorded 123 COVID-19 cases, 120 recoveries, and three fatalities.
Quezon, which is still under the modified general community quarantine, has logged 15,969 COVID-19 cases and 14,504 recoveries since the pandemic broke out in March last year.
