LEGAZPI CITY—Another batch of 4,800 vials of British-made AstraZeneca arrived Thursday at the Legazpi Domestic Airport, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol said.
The vaccines arrived around 10 a.m. in 11 boxes aboard a Philippine Air Lines commercial flight from Manila.
Noemi Bron, DOH Bicol health and promotion chief, said the AstraZeneca vaccines are for the second doses of health workers, senior citizens, and persons with illnesses in the region who received the AstraZeneca jab as their first dose.
Bron said the vaccines are good for 48,000 people as each vial contains 10 doses.
The vaccines were brought to the DOH cold storage facility in this city for inventory and distribution to Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, and Masbate.
On Tuesday, the region also received 2,400 doses of the Russian-made Sputnik V (Gamaleya) vaccines and 10,000 vials of the China-made Coronavac (Sinovac) vaccines.
The Sputnik V vaccines were for front-line workers of the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital, the government’s regional hospital based in Legazpi City, and the city health office of Legazpi City.
