MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested the suspected leader of a notorious robbery group in Muntinlupa City, said the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday.
The suspect was identified as Jose “Hudas” Tañag.
Authorities said he is the leader of “Hudas Robbery Group.” He also had a pending warrant of arrest for the crime of murder.
According to NCRPO regional director Gen. Vicente Danao, Tañag was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday along Mayaman St., Poblacion, Muntinlupa City.
Danao said the Hudas Robbery Group is involved in kidnapping, motorcycle theft, robbery, hold-up, illegal drugs, and gun for hire activities in the areas of Muntinlupa and Laguna.
Danao commended the arrest of the suspect.
“Binabati ko po ang ating mga tauhan sa matagumpay na paglalatag ng manhunt operation upang sa wakas ay matunton at madakip ang akusadong ito na bukod sa wanted sa kasong murder ay isa ding notorious na leader ng Hudas Robbery Group,” he said in a statement.

“Sa kabila ng umiiral na pandemya, ipagpatuloy nawa natin ang pagpapaigting ng ating mga kampanya laban kriminalidad, iligal [n]a droga, terorismo[,] insurhensiya at korapsyon. Gayun din sa mga taong ito na pinaghahanap ng batas,” the NCRPO chief added.
