LPA brings rains, thunderstorms in Bicol region, Mimaropa, Visayas
MANILA, Philippines — Several areas in the country including Bicol region, Mimaropa, and the rest of Visayas are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday due to low pressure area (LPA), the state weather service reported.
The LPA was detected 20 kilometer east northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar as of 3:00 am, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Bagama’t maliit ang tiyansa nitong maging bagyo at possible itong matunaw within 12-24 hours or less, ay patuloy tayong magmo-monitor sapagkat posibleng maapektuhan nito ang ilang bahagi ng ating bansa,” senior weather specialist Chris Perez said.
(Although there is a small possibility of it becoming a typhoon and may disintegrate within 12-24 hour or less, we are still monitoring it because it could affect some parts of the country.)
“Magiging maulap, may kalat-kalat na pagkidlat o pagkulog sa may bandang Mimaropa at Bicol Region,” Perez added. “Sa natitirang bahagi ng Luzon kabilang ang Metro Manila, bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap, pero may tiyansa din ng pag-ulan.”
