PH COVID-19 new infections dips to 3,604; active cases now at 46,934
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday logged 3,604 new infections of COVID-19, the lowest recorded number of additional cases a day since May 23.
This, along with the recorded 5,840 new recoveries, brought the number of active cases to 46,934, which accounts for 3.2% of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
The DOH also logged 77 new fatalities, bringing the country’s death toll to 26,092.
All in all, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is 1,481,660.
DOH said it removed five duplicates, which were recoveries, from the total case count.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, 72 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases, and 47 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation, it added.
DOH said all laboratories were operational on July 11 but seven laboratories were not able to submit their data.
