172 suspected criminals fall; 8,574 COVID-19 protocol violators held in Quezon

LUCENA CITY—Police arrested 172 suspected law violators in three days of synchronized operations in Quezon province, a report said Tuesday.

Col. Joel Villanueva, Quezon police chief, said at least 56 drug suspects were arrested during the “simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operation (SACLEO)” from July 9 to 11.

Sacleo replaced the police “one-time, big-time operation,” an all-out war against all local forms of criminalities in a given period.

Authorities seized 45.61 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and three grams of dried marijuana leaves. The confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P310,500.

Police teams also caught another 56 criminals, 18 of which belong to the list of wanted felons in the Calabarzon region

Policemen also nabbed 58 illegal gamblers and two illegal firearm holders.

The police accosted 8,574 alleged violators of health and safety protocols in Quezon during the same period amid the spread of COVID-19 in the province.

The violators were issued citation tickets, warned, made to render community service, reprimanded, and paid a fine for not wearing face masks, face shields, and not observing physical/social distancing.

Quezon remains under the strict general community quarantine.
