MANILA, Philippines — The traffic in Skyway 3 is seen to ease on Tuesday after a bumpy traffic situation during the first day of implementation of t on Monday, one of its officers said, adding that the situation was all just “birth pains.”
“As usual yung first day kasi natin, yesterday, Monday, alam naman natin yung volume ng traffic natin ‘pag Monday, nagdagsaan ang mga sasakyan natin, and of course may mga birth pains natin,” Manuel Bonoan, chief executive officer for operation and maintenance of Skyway 3, said over Teleradyo,
(As usual, our first day is yesterday, we know the volume of vehicles every Monday, and of course there are birth pains also.)
Bonoan said that some motorists have RFID stickers, but forgot to charge it with load, among other things.
He also noted that there was traffic buildup in Buendia “because many of our motorists are coming from Makati.”
The traffic situation in Skyway, however, is turning back to normal according to Bonoan.
“Nagno-normalize na po ang flow of traffic,” he said. “We expect naman po na kung noon libre ang facility natin, umaabot na kami sa average namin na 100,000 vehicles per day, we expect it to be a bit lower this time dahil may bayad,” he added.
(The flow of traffic is now normalizing. We expect that, since our facilities were free, the average number of vehicles is close to 100,000. But now we expect it to be lower this time because there is a fee.)
