MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 deaths in the country went above 26,000 on Monday, July 12, after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 100 new casualties.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin, the 26,015 deaths due to the disease represent 1.76 percent of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, which now stands at 1.478 million.
The increase in deaths can also be attributed to the validation process, as 62 recoveries were eventually reclassified as deaths.
Also, of the 156 deactivated cases, six were patients who passed away.
Earlier, DOH numbers showed that active COVID-19 cases remained below the 50,000-mark despite 5,204 new infections. Monday’s 49,128 active case count represents 3.3 percent of the 1,478,061 total confirmed cases since the pandemic was recorded in the Philippines.
DOH said that all laboratories were operational last July 10, but eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
