MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Saturday logged an additional 5,675 COVID-19 cases, pushing the country’s total case count to over 1.467 million infections.
Of the country’s total confirmed cases, 49,968 or 3.4 percent are considered active.
The Department of Health (DOH) also reported 7,552 recoveries from the disease.
Meanwhile, the DOH also reported 96 new deaths, bringing the total of COVID-19 patients who succumbed to the disease to 25,816 or 1.76 percent of all cases.
According to the DOH, 11 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, eight are recoveries.
Further, the DOH said 42 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All laboratories were operational on July 8, 2021, while three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS), added the DOH.
“Based on data in the last 14 days, the 3 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 0.7% of samples tested and 0.4% of positive individuals,” the DOH also said.
