MANILA, Philippines—The local government of Talisay, Batangas and some concerned citizens on Friday (July 9) distributed food and cash to residents displaced by the restive Taal Volcano.
“It’s a way of giving back,” said Bob Suntay, a donor from Quezon City. “We have a business and it got successful so we are giving back,” he said.
Radyo Inquirer chanced upon the aid event along the highway, where donors were handing over medicines and food for the elderly.
Authorities continued to monitor a series of phreatomagmatic bursts at Taal Volcano in the past 24 hours. It remained at Alert Level 3 due to continuous “magmatic unrest.”
