MANILA, Philippines — While the southwest monsoon or habagat still has no effect on the country’s weather systems, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to dump rain over Visayas and Mindanao, state meteorologists said Thursday afternoon.
Weather reports from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed cloud bands moving over Palawan and nearby provinces in the Visayas, as well as over the southern parts of Mindanao.
Cloudy skies and isolated rains will prevail over the said areas, while thunderstorm activity may also be observed in areas affected by the ITCZ.
Meanwhile, clear skies are in northern Luzon as the weather bureau expects the monsoon break to last until the coming week.
Aside from Puerto Princesa which may have temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees on Friday, the rest of Luzon will see warm and humid days. Temperatures over Metro Manila and Legazpi would play between 26 to 33 degrees, Tuguegarao with 25 to 35 degrees, Laoag with 25 to 32 degrees, and Legazpi with 21 to 31 degrees.
For Mindanao, moderate to heavy rains may be felt on Friday, which would lead to lower than usual temperatures for Tacloban and Cebu with 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, Iloilo with 25 to 32 degrees, Zamboanga and Davao with 24 to 32 degrees, and Cagayan de Oro with 23 to 32 degrees.
No gale warning was raised with sea conditions on the entire seaboard of Luzon as well as in the eastern Visayas would be moderate. The rest of the country meanwhile will have slight to moderate sea conditions.
