MANILA, Philippines — Active COVID-19 cases in the country are still below 50,000 even as the Department of Health (DOH) reports 5,484 new cases on Thursday, with all testing laboratories submitting their data.
Based on the DOH data, 49,036 cases are still active from the total 1,455,585 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.
Meanwhile, another 3,925 patients have recovered from the disease, raising the recovery count to 1,380,899.
The DOH said there were also 191 patients who have died, taking the death toll to 25,650 or 1.76 percent of the total confirmed cases.
According to the DOH, 11.3 percent of the 49,926 individuals who were tested were found positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.
“All labs were operational on July 6, 2021, and all labs were able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System,” the DOH said.
The health agency removed nine duplicate entries, including six recoveries, from the total case count. Another 152 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
