MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 death count in the country is at 25,459 as of Wednesday, July 7, after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 164 new COVID-19 fatalities.

DOH also said in the bulletin that 123 recoveries were reclassified as deaths after further validation.

The 25,459 deaths represent 1.76 percent of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, which now stands at 1.450 million.

Earlier, DOH numbers showed that active COVID-19 cases went down again, now at 47,519 after only 4,289 infections were recorded, while 6,399 recoveries were tallied.

DOH said that all laboratories were operational last July 5, but four labs have not submitted their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.  Also, based on the data from the last 14 days, the five laboratories that did not submit data accounted for 1.6 percent of all the samples tested and 2.3 percent of all the positive cases.

There were also 61 cases previously reported to be recovered, which were brought back to the active case count.  Eleven duplicate entries were also removed from the total case count, of which six are under-recoveries, and one was death.
