MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation on Tuesday said motorists would no longer be issued paper receipts, which served as their temporary driver’s licenses, saying the new cards were now equipped with new security features to prevent fraud and other “illegal practices.”
Goddes Hope Libiran, assistant transport secretary, said the new license cards had 32 security features compared to 11 in 2015.
These include a hologram, laser engraving, guilloche and a barcode showing the driver’s fingerprints and photos. The new cards are made of polycarbonate material, which is more durable than polyvinyl chloride.
