Cebu City execs, stakeholders to discuss new rule allowing fully vaccinated domestic visitors

CEBU CITY – Local government officials and stakeholders met Tuesday to discuss the new protocol allowing the entry of domestic visitors who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 even without a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test.

Lawyer Lizer Malate, head of the Mandaue City Vaccination Operations Center, said IATF’s newest protocol is a good way to encourage people to get vaccinated.

However, there should be a synchronized policy for the entire province, he said.

Malate said they were still waiting for a uniform policy from the provincial government and the cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu.

City Councilor Joel Garganera, the deputy chief implementer of the Emergency Operations Center, believed there was no need to issue an executive order since the new protocol was issued by the national pandemic task force.

“But then again, we have to wait for Tuesday for a meeting of the minds and uniformity among all local governments in Cebu,” he said

On Sunday, July 4, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that swab tests are no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals traveling domestically.
