Village councilor in Pangasinan gunned down

DAGUPAN CITY—A village councilor in Aguilar town, Pangasinan province was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday (July 7) morning, police said.

Investigators identified the victim as Remegio Servanda, 68, of Barangay Tambac in Aguilar.

Servanda was reportedly driving his tricycle when he was shot by the gunmen who were on board another vehicle around 6: 30 a.m.

Citing witnesses, police said the assailants fled towards Mangatarem town.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

A dragnet checkpoint operation and “Oplan Sita” were immediately launched to arrest the gunmen.
