MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ active tally of COVID-19 cases is now at 51,594 as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,392 more infections on Monday.

The health department has so far confirmed a total of 1,441,746 COVID-19 cases in the country since the first case was reported in January last year.

Most of the cases (94.7%), or 1,364,960, have already recovered from the cardiorespiratory disease, including the 6,477 new recoveries reported by the DOH.

However, 43 more patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the death toll to 25,192.

The DOH said 11.3% of the 47,614 people who were tested for SARS-CoV-2 virus was found positive on Saturday.

It added that it removed 15 duplicates from the total case count, including nine recoveries.

The DOH also reclassified as deaths 20 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries.

According to the health department, all labs were operational on Saturday but 10 labs were not able to submit their data.
