MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) is urging local government units (LGUs) to improve the look of their respective COVID-19 vaccination cards as the pandemic task force relaxes interzonal travel for fully-vaccinated individuals.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said Monday that the vaccination cards that will be issued by LGUs to the inoculated should look “more legitimate.”
“We hope and we have given advice na because of this protocol, kailangan mag-improve ang ating mga local governments that they will be able to issue a vaccination card which is more legitimate at mas magagamit ng ating mga kababayan when they do their interzonal travel,” she told an online media briefing.
(We hope and we have advised LGUs that because of this protocol, they should improve their issuance of vaccination cards for it to look more legitimate and so that the public can use it when they go on interzonal travel.)
“Hopefully itong lahat ng kailangang gawin na detalye ng proseso sa operations, maiiayos natin para mas maganda ang pagpapatupad natin dito,” she added.
(Hopefully we can improve all details in this process so we can implement it well.)
Vergeire also noted that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has recommended the uniform implementation of the new policy.
Under the IATF Resolution No. 124-B, interzonal travelers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will only be required to present proof of complete vaccination instead of negative test results.
The resolution stated that an individual is only considered fully vaccinated two weeks after he received the second dose of the vaccine.
Interzonal travel is the movement between provinces, highly urbanized cities, and independent component cities under different community quarantine classifications.
