Alleged NPA rebel slain in Negros Oriental clash

BACOLOD CITY—A suspected member of the New People’s Army was killed in an encounter Sunday with government troops in Sitio Pitik Pitik, Barangay Luz, Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental.

Major Cenon Pancito III, 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson, said the soldiers encountered five communist rebels that led to a firefight for about five minutes.

“There was no casualty on the government side,” Pancito said.

Recovered from the fatality were a 357 caliber revolver and a hand grenade.
