MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan City government is aiming to inoculate a total of 600 tricycle drivers with the Moderna vaccine to immunize them against COVID-19.
Mayor Oscar Malapitan said the vaccination already started Monday morning at Camarin D Elementary School in Barangay 178 and will continue until 4:00 p.m.
“Our tricycle drivers are counted as essential workers and economic frontlines,” he said in a statement.
The local government allows walk-in appointments for all tricycle drivers who reside in North Caloocan, who only need to bring a valid ID and their own ballpen.
The Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Associations (TODA) in the city was also informed of the event, according to the local government.
“It’s important to have them protected, not only for themselves but for their family and community,” Malapitan said.
