MANILA, Philippines — The red tide scourge has now struck 10 areas all over the country, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
Laboratory results from the BFAR showed that coastal waters of Milagros in Masbate; Sorsogon Bay in Sorsogon; Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; Irong-irong Bay in Western Samar; Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte; Murcielagos Bay (Sapang Dalaga and Baliangao) in Misamis Oriental; Balete Bay, Mati City, in Davao Oriental; and Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur were positive for paralytic shellfish poison beyond the regulatory limit. Matarinao Bay in Eastern Samar is also now positive for red tide. Consumers are advised against eating shellfish.
