A suspected supplier of drugs and illegal firearms to partisan groups and criminal syndicates was captured in Bulacan as the Philippine National Police intensified its clamp down on loose firearms and private armies ahead of the 2022 elections.

Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police, said agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group captured Jason Relucio King, 46, in a raid at his residence at Barangay Longos in Malolos around 10 a.m. on Thursday, based on a search warrant issued by Judge Nemesio Manlangit of the Malolos municipal trial court.

Seized during the raid were an M-16 assault rifle, a shotgun, two .22-caliber rifles, one 9-mm submachine gun, eight handguns of different caliber and assorted magazines with ammunition. Also seized were 11 kilograms of dried marijuana worth P2.2 million. —Dexter Cabalza
