LUCENA CITY––Thirty-four new COVID-19 cases, including a male centenarian, were recorded in San Pablo City Thursday, bringing the total number of active infections in the city to 368, health authorities said.
The city’s Anti-COVID-19 Task Force reported in its 6 p.m. bulletin on July 1 that among the new virus carriers is a 100-year-old male, from the village of Sta. Maria Magdalena, and five other citizens – two males and three females – aged 60 to 81.
The centenarian is the oldest resident in the city to have caught the virus, but has not been showing any symptoms, according to the report.
The patient, who is now under home isolation, had no history of travel or exposure to a validated COVID-19 patient, the report added.
The report did not state if the centenarian had received a COVID-19 vaccine.
Authorities also reported that 60 other COVID-19 patients, including 10 citizens aged 61 to 84, have recovered from the highly contagious illness.
The city, which is under the strict general community quarantine, has logged 4,174 COVID-19 cases, of which 3,662 had recovered, and 144 died since the pandemic started in March last year.
San Pablo Mayor Lorenzo Amante has appealed to residents to strictly follow all regulations imposed by the national Inter-Agency Task Force to curb the rise of new cases. INQ
