Zambales logs record-high COVID-19 recoveries at 206

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––At least 206 patients in the province have recovered from COVID-19, an official said Thursday, July 1.

Most of the recoveries were registered inside the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy in San Narciso town, where 174 cases had been cleared of the disease, said Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, in a statement.

It was the highest single-day record of patients who were healed from the viral disease.

They are among the 325 PMMA cadets and employees infected with the virus after an outbreak last May.

Data showed that only 31 cases remained active at the PMMA.

The other 32 new recoveries in the province were patients who tested positive for the virus from June 5 to 14.

But Bueno said the province also reported 35 new cases on the same day, bringing the total active cases to 443.

Zambales has recorded 2,425 COVID-19 cases since last year and at least 2,901 had recovered, while 80 had died. INQ
