Possible LPA may bring rain over eastern Visayas, thunderstorm in Luzon

Pagasa weather update

MANILA, Philippines — A cloud cluster east of the country, which may turn into a low pressure area (LPA), is expected to cause rains and thunderstorms in eastern Visayas on Friday, state meteorologists said.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Thursday also showed possible isolated rains over Luzon even if the southwest monsoon’s effects remain minimal.

These rains are due to localized thunderstorms, Pagasa noted.

As of now, the LPA far east of northern Luzon evaporated, which means most areas in the region would experience warm and humid weather with a high chance of isolated rains at night.

Temperatures over Metro Manila may range from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius, Laoag with 25 to 32 degrees, Tagaytay with 21 to 32 degrees, Legazpi with 26 to 33 degrees, and Tuguegarao with 24 to 36 degrees.

Huge parts of Visayas and Mindanao would also enjoy warm and humid weather, but the possible LPA east of Visayas would cause rains and colder weather over Tacloban, at 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

In contrast, Cebu would have something between 26 to 32 degrees Celsius, Iloilo with 26 to 33 degrees, Zamboanga with 24 to 34 degrees, Cagayan de Oro with 23 to 33 degrees, and Davao with 24 to 33 degrees.

Pagasa said that no gale warning has been raised in any part of the country, which means that fisherfolk and small boat operators can freely move over the country’s seas.  However, sea condition over Luzon’s northern seaboards and Visayas and Mindanao’s eastern waters would be moderate, while the rest of the country’s seas would be slight to moderate.
