Rape suspect nabbed in Nueva Ecija

ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija — A 19-year-old suspect facing rape charges was arrested here after he reportedly went into hiding, police said on Thursday, July 1.

Maj. Jaime Ferrer, town police chief, identified the suspect as Samuel Cabanatan of Barangay Poblacion West in this town.

Cabanatan was arrested based on a warrant issued by a Tarlac City court, Ferrer said.

The suspect was also the third most wanted person in the town.

Police said Cabanatan did not resist arrest but denied the charges, adding that he did not go into hiding since he filed a counter-affidavit.
