LPA spotted east of extreme N. Luzon; fair weather expected nationwide

DOST-Pagasa weather update, June 30, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) was spotted off the eastern part of extreme northern Luzon outside the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA, last spotted 1,860 kilometers of extreme northern Luzon as of 3 am, is unlikely to cause weather disturbance in the country.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to have fair weather condition, with a possibility of isolated rain showers due to isolated thunderstorms, according to Pagasa.

“Base po sa ating analysis, mababa ang chance nitong LPA na maging isang bagyo,” said weather specialist Benison Estareja.

(Based on our analysis, the LPA has a low chance of becoming a typhoon.)

“Nakikita natin na ‘yung north westward na movement nito, possible hangang bukas, araw ng Thursday,  ay pumasok ito sa northeastern boundary ng ating PAR,” he added.

(We observed that the westward movement of the LPA may enter the north-eastern boundary of PAR tomorrow, Thursday.)

Pagasa said the LPA may disintegrate immediately after entering PAR.
