Time expires on bid for 2nd House seat for Bacolod City
BACOLOD CITY — Time has run out on a bid to create a second congressional district, which means another House seat, for Bacolod City in time for the May 2022 elections. Two House bills—No. 566 and No. 537—have been filed by Rep. Greg Gasataya and Abang Lingkod Rep. Stephen Paduano in the 18th Congress seeking to create a second congressional district in Bacolod City. It remained pending at the House committee on local government. Councilor Al Victor Espino said there was no more time to pass the bill as elections are fast approaching. Espino said he’s pushing for the creation of a second congressional for “economic reasons.” “A second congressional district would mean added income for Bacolod City with about P1 billion per district,” he said.
