3 drug suspects fall in Lucena busts

Police: Village councilor, brother nabbed for estafa in Marinduque town

LUCENA CITY — Police arrested three drug suspects in separate buy-bust operations Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, in a report identified the suspects as Julius Avila, 34; Irene Lanzaderas, 22; and Jayson Dela Cruz, 25. The suspects are all on the police watch list.

The report said anti-illegal drugs operatives busted Avila and Lanzaderas after the duo sold P500 worth of shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer acting as a drug user in Barangay 8 at 12:20 p.m.

Authorities seized eight plastic sachets of shabu worth P18,360 from the suspects. Both of them also had previous drug cases.

The police nabbed Dela Cruz in another sting operation in Barangay Market View two hours later.

Dela Cruz yielded six sachets of shabu worth P19,992.

Albacea said reformed drug users and former clients of the suspects tipped them off on their illegal activities.

The suspects were detained and are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
