DOH logs 84 new COVID-19 deaths; total now at 24,456

MANILA, Philippines — The number of fatalities in the country due to COVID-19 climbed to 24,456 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 84 new deaths on Monday.

The death toll makes up 1.74 percent of the total 1,403,588 COVID-19 cases recorded by the health department since the pandemic reached Philippine shores began in February 2020.

Meanwhile, there are 52,029 active coronavirus cases, of which 2.1 percent are severe cases and 1.4 percent are critical.

The majority of cases, or 90.1 percent, are mild, while five percent are asymptomatic and 1.49 percent are moderate infections.
