COVID-19 cases in PH passes 1.4M; 5,604 new infections reported — DOH
MANILA, Philippines — The total caseload of COVID-19 infections in the country has now reached 1,403,588 cases after an additional 5,604 cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.
According to DOH, there are currently 52,029 active cases, making up 3.7 percent of all the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country since last year.
Meanwhile, 6,154 patients were recorded to have recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,327,103. Deaths, meanwhile, stand at 24,456 after 84 new deaths were reported.
The DOH said 12.5 percent of 42,771 people who were tested for the coronavirus also yielded positive results on Saturday.
“Moreover, 57 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases and 38 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” said DOH.
Article continues after this advertisementThe DOH also said that all laboratories were operational on Saturday, but six of them were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
It added that the six non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.5 percent of samples tested and 2.5 percent of positive individuals.
As of writing, the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker showed that global COVID-19 cases are currently at 181,096,913 including 3,923,132 deaths.
