CEBU CITY—Employees of the Cebu City Schools Division (CCSD) evacuated from their offices after a bomb threat at past 8 a.m. Monday.
Bernadette Susvilla, CCSD officer-in-charge, said a still-unidentified person sent a text message to CCSD Superintendent Rhea Mar Angtud informing her about the presence of explosives inside their office.
The Cebu City Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) immediately arrived in the area upon the request of CCSD officers.
After about an hour, the police unit announced they did not find any bomb inside the building.
Lt. Franklin Rosario, team leader of EOD, said the texter seemed disappointed after not receiving an allowance from the CCSD.
“The language used by the texter was Bisaya, Ilocano, and Tagalog,” he said.
Rosario said they still could not conclude that the suspect was an employee of CCSD.
The CCSD also received a bomb threat in March 2020.
Rosario said they would ask the Anti-Cybercrime Unit to go over the text message to find leads in their investigation.
