136 contract COVID-19 in Ilocos Norte in 3 days

LAOAG CITY—At least 136 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Ilocos Norte province from June 25 to 27, which brought the total number of active COVID-19 cases to 620, health officials said.

During the same period, the province also logged 44 recoveries and six new deaths.

Most of the cases are found in Laoag City (187), Bangui (135), San Nicolas (64), Batac City (38), Badoc (38), Bacarra (22), and Sarrat (22).

The towns of Adams, Carasi, and Banna continue to have zero active COVID-19 cases.

On Sunday, June 27, Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc ordered Bangui town to be placed on modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the least restrictive community quarantine classification.

It was previously on modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), the second most restrictive quarantine.

The town was placed under MECQ on June 22 after its average daily attack rate of 32.30 and a two-week growth rate of 245 were considered high.

So far, Ilocos Norte has logged 3,562 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020, At least 2,883 had recovered, and 59 died. INQ
