MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Palawan, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The ITCZ is where winds coming from the northern and southern hemisphere converge, bringing clouds that cause rains in affected areas.

Pagasa said in its weather update that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” continues to affect extreme northern Luzon, according to Mendoza.

The rest of the country, on the other hand, will experience fair weather but isolated rain showers may still occur due to localized thunderstorms.

Mendoza said there is no low pressure area or weather disturbance being expected within the Philippine area of responsibility in the next two to three days.
