MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Cagwait, Surigao del Sur on Sunday afternoon.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake struck 14 kilometers east of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur around 3:14 pm.

Intensity 3 was felt in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur; while Intensity 2 was felt in Surigao City; Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; and Abuyog, Leyte.
Intensity 1, meanwhile, was felt in Cagayan de Oro City.
Phivolcs said the earthquake is not expected to cause damage but noted that aftershocks are to be expected.
