MANILA, Philippines — Isolated rain showers are expected in the country on Saturday due to southwest monsoon or “habagat” and localized thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.
The state weather bureau said the southwest monsoon will continue to affect Northern and Central Luzon, particularly the Ilocos region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said slightly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers are expected in the rest of Luzon—including Metro Manila—due to localized thunderstorms.
Slightly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers are likewise expected in the Visayas and Mindanao region, Pagasa said.
The state weather bureau is still monitoring Typhoon Champi which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
It was last located 1,835 kilometers east of extreme of northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
Champi is moving north at 20 kph.
Pagasa, however, noted that the typhoon is not expected to enter PAR.
