TUGUEGARAO CITY—A fisherman found what was believed to be a part of an airplane with Chinese markings in the waters off Ivana town in Batanes province, police said on Friday, June 25.
Col. Ismael Atluna, Batanes provincial police director, said the debris could be from a Taiwanese aircraft.
The plane part, which was found by fisherman Rodolfo Javier on Wednesday, was 6 meters long and 2 meters wide.
It was floating in the sea, about 100 m from the Radiwan port, the jump-off point to the island town of Sabtang.
Atluna said they had already turned the object over to the Aviation Security Group.
