DOH logs 116 new COVID-19 deaths; nationwide toll rises to 24,152

MANILA, Philippines — Another 116 patients succumbed to COVID-19, raising the national death toll on Friday to 24,152.

As of Friday, the death toll still makes up 1.74 percent of all the 1.38 million COVID-stricken individuals in the Philippine since the start of the pandemic last year.

Of the 55,293 active cases, 1.9 percent are severe and 1.3 percent are critical that are at higher risk for death.

The majority of cases, or 90.8 percent, are mild, while 4.6 percent are asymptomatic and 1.35 percent are moderate infections.

The DOH reported an average of 109 deaths per day from June 19 to 25, lower than the 125 average deaths added to the count from June 12 to 18.
