MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has managed to give 350,000 COVID-19 vaccinations in a day, making it the highest number of vaccinations done in one day, National Task Force against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon said Thursday.

He said the Philippines recorded a total of about 353,000 jabs on Wednesday, June 23, of which 167,000 were logged in Metro Manila.

“That is really an achievement. The days where we were hitting less than 100,000 are behind us,” Dizon said in a press briefing.

“I think with the added vaccines, with the additional vaccine doses that are coming in, the number that we reached yesterday, we’ll only get higher and higher in the coming weeks,” he added.

The Philippines is aiming to administer 500,000 COVID-19 doses a day to be able to reach herd immunity within the year, Dizon said.

So far, about 9.1 million COVID-19 doses have been administered in the country, as of June 23, according to Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje.
