NPA leader nabbed in Masbate town

DepEd Masbate condemns killing of elementary school principal

LEGAZPI CITY —Police arrested on Wednesday a suspected New People’s Army (NPA) leader in Uson town in Masbate province, a police report said.

Jennifer Nuñez, 45, a secretary of a local rebel group under Ka Daddy Command Larangan 1 guerilla front operating in Masbate province, was collared by police armed with a warrant of arrest in her home, Police Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said in the report.

The report did not mention where in Uson Nuñez was arrested or what time.

According to the report, the suspect is the wife of Rico Nuñez, alias “Aron” or “Dods,” commander of the guerilla unit of the Bicol Regional Party Committee.

The suspect was among the group of communist rebels that detonated a land mine bomb and fired at an ambulance, wounding driver Oliver Ocap and his companion Florentino Muhilum along the road in Barangay Bagacay in Mobo town, also in Masbate.

The suspect is facing complaints of multiple attempted murders with P120,000 recommended bail.
