MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government said Wednesday that it was able to administer over 41,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses on Tuesday alone, the highest number of doses the city has given in a single day.

According to the city government, healthcare personnel were able to administer 41,826 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, higher than the city’s previous record of 37,234.

Quezon City has administered a total of 646,043 vaccines, with 495,490 citizens receiving their first dose and 150,553 fully vaccinated citizens, as of 8 a.m. of June 22.

The city announced that it may open more vaccination sites for “barangay-assisted booking” when more available vaccines arrive for distribution.

“Sa ating QCitizens, magbibigay tayo ng dagdag na schedule at magbubukas ng mas maraming site para sa barangay-assisted booking kapag mas maraming bakuna ang dumating sa ating lungsod,” the city government said.

(To our QCitizens, we will be giving additional schedules for vaccination and will open more sites for village-assisted booking when vaccines arrive in our city.)

The city targets to inoculate 1.7 million residents in the area to achieve population protection. Faith Yuen Wei Ragasa, Inquirer.net trainee
