COVID-19 kills SBMA worker, infects 2 more free port residents

COVID-19 infects 5,257 more; PH active cases now at 53,132

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––Another employee of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) succumbed to COVID-19, the agency announced Monday, June 21.

The SBMA stated that the latest fatality was a 53-year-old woman who died on June 20.

She tested positive for COVID-19 on May 26 after being exposed to an infected patient. She was initially isolated in a government facility and transferred on June 1 to a private hospital, where she again tested positive on June 9.

At least four SBMA workers had died while battling the disease, out of the 99 reported cases among the agency employees since last year.

The agency also announced that two female residents of the Subic Bay Freeport aged 7 and 36 had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 18.

The new cases raised to 113 the confirmed cases among the free port residents, seven of which are still active, 105 recovered, and one died. INQ
