MANILA, Philippines — Elements of the Manila Police District (MPD) shot and killed a man and arrested his accomplice on Sunday after reportedly robbing a truck driver in Tondo, Manila, police reported Monday.

Suspect Kenneth Cabrigas, 27, was killed while Moises Alfero, 23, was arrested after allegedly robbing a 28-year-old truck driver along Mel Lopez Boulevard, Barangay 110 in Tondo, Manila at 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 20, according to MPD.

The police said the suspects took P20,000 cash and a mobile phone from the truck driver.

Authorities at the scene immediately conducted a pursuit operation after receiving the complaint. Cabrigas allegedly opened fire prompting authorities to retaliate hitting Cabrigas.

Cabrigas was rushed to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival, according to authorities.

Meanwhile, Alfero was arrested and will be facing complaints for robbery with violence and intimidation of persons before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
