PSBank branch manager testifies on Corona bank accounts

MANILA, Philippines–The branch manager of the Philippine Savings Bank on Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City, faced the Senate on Monday to testify on the alleged peso accounts owned by Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Anabelle Tiongson was directed by the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, to appear before it and bring documents pertaining to opening deposits made by Corona in his peso accounts with the bank.

Responding to queries by Sen. Franklin Drilon, Tiongson confirmed the initial deposits made by Corona in five peso accounts: P2 million for account number 089-121019593 which was opened on Jan. 26, 2009; P8.5 million for account number 089-121019593 opened on Dec. 22, 2009; P3.7 million for account number 089-121020122 opened on March 4, 2010; P7.090 million for account number 089-121021681 opened in September 2010; and P2 million for account number 089-121011957 opened in May 2007.
