MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will open a U-turn slot at the Dario Bridge in Quezon City along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) on Tuesday, Chairman Benhur Abalos said.
It is intended to reduce traffic and shorten travel time within the area, according to Abalos.
If you are coming from Monumento, either coming from south, papalabas mo ng Muñoz bago ka maka-u-turn pagkalayo-layo pa,” he said in a press briefing.
(Tomorrow, we will open a U-turn slot in Quezon City so that the route you will take will not be that long. It’s because if you are coming from Monumento or the South, you will have to go through a long way as you exit Muñoz.)
(But what if the U-turn slot at the Dario Bridge will be opened? It will be a huge help to the Quezon Academy. Motorists will be able to take a U-turn and we will decongest traffic. So we will open the U-turn and we will deploy traffic enforcers.)
Abalos said that the carousel route along Edsa is “very, very effective,” but noted that the lack of enough U-turn slots is becoming a problem for some motorists, hence the decision to open a U-turn in Quezon City.
