“In Region 6, we have Iloilo City, Guimaras, Capiz, and Antique, and for Region 7, it’s Negros Oriental and Bohol, and for Region 8 we have Tacloban City,” she added.

Vergeire said the number of COVID-19 cases in the said areas are bordering from moderate to high risk.

The increase in cases, she said, can be attributed to various factors, including increased mobility and the presence of more transmissible variants of COVID-19.

Vergeire added that infection clusters have also been observed in workplaces, prisons, and other settings in the said areas.

Based on the COVID-19 tracker of the DOH, Western Visayas has 6,688 active cases, Central Visayas has 3,479 and Eastern Visayas has 3,024 as of Sunday.
