MANILA, Philippines — Luzon is expected to have cloudy and rainy weather while the Visayas and Mindanao are expected to be hot and humid on Monday due to the effects of the southwest monsoon or habagat, the state weather service said Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its latest report, also reported that a low-pressure area was spotted 1,285 kilometers at the east-northeast of Northern Luzon.
The LPA, said Pagasa, will have no effect on the country’s weather condition and is not projected to develop into a typhoon.
“Isang low pressure area ang namataan kaninang alas tres ng hapon, wala itong direktang epekto sa ating bansa at maliit ang tiyansang maging bagyo,” senior weather specialist Chris Perez said.
(A low pressure area was spotted around 3:00 p.m., but it has no direct effect on the weather in the country, and there is a small chance of it becoming a typhoon.)
“Bukas inaasahan pa din ang epekto ng habagat sa kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon, habang sa Metro Manila at natitirang bahagi ng Luzon ay patuloy ang maulap at maulap at tiyansa ng isolated thunderstorm,” Perez said.
(Tomorrow, the southwest monsoon will continue to affect the western part of Luzon, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy weather with chances of isolated thunderstorms.)
“Sa buong Visayas at Mindanao naman, ashaan ang generally mainit at maalinsanganag panahon. Kung magkaroon man ng pag-ulan sa dakong hapon o gabi ay dulot lamang ng mga localized thunderstorm,” he added.
(In Visayas and Mindanao, expect generally hot and humid weather. Rain in the afternoon or night will be due to localized thunderstorms.)
