MANILA, Philippines — The country’s COVID-19 caseload is now at 1,359,015 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,803 new cases on Sunday.
Of this number, 57,679 are active cases, with most either having mild or no symptoms at 95.6 percent.
There are also 7,652 who recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,277,715.
The total number of deaths meanwhile, now stands at 23,621 after 84 new deaths were reported.
“Moreover, 115 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases, and 59 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH noted.
The Philippines is only behind Indonesia in terms of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia with 1,976,172 cases, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker.
As of posting, the global cases reached 178.2 million including 3.8 million deaths, according to the tracker.
