2 warrants out for bar exam blast suspect

MANILA, Philippines — Warrants of arrest have finally been issued against a suspect in the 2010 bar exam blast, Alpha Phi Omega fraternity member Anthony Leal Nepomuceno.

Nepomuceno is wanted for illegal possession of firearms, and multiple frustrated murder and multiple attempted murder, for the blast outside the De La Salle University on Sept. 26, 2010. The blast was believed to have been perpetrated by rival fraternities.

At least 45 people, holding the traditional “bar ops” outside the university, were injured. Two law students had to have their legs amputated.

In the two warrants of arrest issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 3 judge Jaime Santiago, no bail has been set for the illegal possession of firearms case. A P200,000-bail has been set for the multiple murder and frustrated murder complaints.

While the warrants were penned on Jan. 17, they were released only Feb. 3 to the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine National Police, the Manila Police District, the Marikina police and the Marinduque police.

Nepomuceno has residences in Brgy Tañong in Marikina, and in Mogpog, Marinduque.
