Scattered rains over Luzon, Vis-Min due to ‘habagat’, thunderstorms — Pagasa

Public Weather Forecast Issued at 4:00 AM June 20, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” is expected to bring scattered rains over Luzon, including Metro Manila, on Sunday, the state weather bureau said.

Meanwhile, relatively clearer skies are expected in the Visayas and Mindanao but scattered rain showers are still expected due to localized thunderstorms.

“Maaari po ‘yang maranasan (It can be experienced) anytime of the day,” said De La Cruz.

A huge cloud formation was also recorded along the eastern waters of Luzon, but is not expected to directly affect the country’s biggest land mass.

Local fishermen and sailors, however, are advised to take extra precaution in sailing over these parts of the Philippine sea.

“Paalala pa rin natin sa mga sea vessels na narito sa bahaging ito ng ating karagatan, ibayo at dobleng pagiingat pa rin sa mga moderate to heavy rains at mga possible thunderstorms sa lugar na ito,” said Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz.

(We would still like to remind sea vessels to be extra careful as thunderstorms bringing moderate to heavy rains are possible thunderstorms in this area.)
